While we wait for the total schedule of the 2022-23 NBA season to be released sooner or later later this week, there have already been some leaks of this schedule.
The Christmas Day games have already been announced and along with another key matchups being leaked, the league officially has a start date for the brand new season.
In line with The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the 2022-23 NBA season will begin on October 18 with two matchups.
The primary game on TNT will happen on the East Coast with the Philadelphia 76ers visiting the defending Eastern Conference champions within the Boston Celtics and the second game on TNT will likely be on the alternative side of the country because the defending NBA champions within the Golden State Warriors have their ring ceremony and host the Los Angeles Lakers.
The NBA’s full 2022-23 schedule is rumored to be released on Wednesday, August 17, this based on NBA insider Marc Stein.
The 76ers and Celtics split their four-game series with each other through the 2021-22 campaign, as they each won a game on the road and finished the regular season 51-31. While Boston advanced all of the solution to the NBA Finals, Philadelphia didn’t make it out of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Miami Heat, losing to the Heat in six games.
On the opposite side of things, the Lakers and Warriors squared off 4 times last season, as Golden State won three out of the 4 games. The one win the Lakers got over the Warriors was in Los Angeles on March 5, as Golden State was without Draymond Green and Los Angeles was without Anthony Davis.
The Lakers and Warriors also played one another to open up the 2021-22 season, so it will mark the second consecutive yr that these two teams have played on Opening Night.
4 teams who will likely be vying for a championship through the 2022-23 season will begin things on October 18, an evening through which a number of the league’s best will take the court. Joel Embiid, James Harden, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green should all be playing on Opening Night to kick off the league’s 76th season!
