Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been focused on establishing himself because the leader of Chicago’s offense heading into his second 12 months, because the organization goals to bounce back from a 6-11 campaign.
Over 12 games as a rookie, Fields threw for 1,870 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions, while the Bears won just two of the ten games he began. He did discover a spark with wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who caught 81 passes for 1,055 yards and 4 touchdowns last 12 months.
“He desires to take over the league,” Mooney said of Fields. “He’s already Justin Fields. He desires to be one of the best quarterback within the league. He’s taken the stride to be there. I got unbelievable faith that he might be there, and his success is my success. So, so long as he’s doing good, I’m doing good, we’re all doing good.”
On Thursday’s “The Herd,” Joy Taylor reacted to the comments from Fields’ teammate and offered some insight on what it could mean for the league if the Bears signal-caller really brings the warmth this season.
“I actually enjoyed seeing the spark from Justin Fields last 12 months,” Taylor said. “If he can take over the league the best way he desires to, it is going to be a distinct league. I believe that the NFC North shouldn’t be quite gonna look similar to it all the time has. … If [Fields] can bring this team back to relevancy and win playoffs games, he’s going to be legend status, and it could so fun for the league. So a part of me is rooting for this to occur.
“I hope he continues to develop. I had little doubt about his leadership ability and him with the ability to go in there and command respect within the locker room. … I’m looking forward to seeing how he plays this 12 months and the way they take a step up.”

The Bears have not had a winning season since 2018 — only their second season above .500 prior to now 10 years — but that might change this season with the addition of latest offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko to assist guide Fields in his sophomore season.
Evidently Fields has successfully been constructing on his 12 months 2 potential to date this offseason.
“You simply feel him within the huddle,” tight end Cole Kmet said of Fields at OTAs. “He isn’t just repeating the play, he’s telling you the play, and there is a difference in that. That offers me confidence as a player out in the sector. He’s talking to every guy. It is not only a repeat-a-play, he’s telling us a play, which is a difference.”
