Brett Favre ‘pushed for money despite potential misuse of welfare funds,’ recent texts reveal

Brett Favre was insatiable in his desire for financial assistance for the University of Southern Mississippi’s recent sports facilities despite the potential misuse of state welfare funds, in keeping with a report.

Per the ESPN report, then-Mississippi Gov. Bryant texted Favre on July 28, 2019, telling the non-profit, which had paid him for promoting the volleyball initiative, ‘has some limited control over Federal Funds in the shape of Grants for Children and adults within the Low Income Community.’

‘Use of those funds [are] tightly controlled,’ Bryant wrote, in keeping with the filing sourced by ESPN. ‘Any improper use could end in violation of Federal Law. Auditors are currently reviewing using these funds.’ 

It is also reported that on the identical day Favre text Bryant about adding a football facility as well to attempt to get NFL legend Deion Sanders’s son to the university.

Per the report on the filing, on September 4, 2019, Favre sent a text to Bryant following a gathering — through which they were each present — where they and others discussed proposing for further funding for ‘programs’ at the brand new volleyball facility.

‘And we feel that your name is the proper selection for this facility and we will not be taking No for a solution! You might be a Southern Miss Alumni, and people have to know you might be also a supporter of the University.’

Bryant responded, in keeping with the report on said filing: ‘We’re going to get there. This was an important meeting. But we’ve got to follow the law. I’m to [sic] old for Federal Prison.’

The firm representing the NFL Hall of Famer — The Holmes Law Firm — didn’t immediately reply to multiple requests for comment from Dailymail.com.

Text messages purportedly showing Favre, Nancy Latest — who ran a nonprofit within the state and has since pleaded guilty to fraud charges — and Bryant working on the scheme were included in a filing two weeks ago. 

In a single from August of 2017, Favre texted Latest, asking: ‘When you were to pay me is there anyway the media can discover where it got here from and the way much?’ 

In keeping with a Mississippi Today report, involved parties managed to search out a loophole regarding the expenditure of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funds, through which the Mississippi Department of Human Services put forth $4m toward the power upgrade.  

Favre has reportedly been questioned by the FBI over a $1.1million payment made to him.

Favre is a Super Bowl champion and three-time NFL MVP who played for the Falcons, Packers, Jets and Vikings, but is most famous for his 15 years as quarterback in Green Bay.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
