Elton appears to be the one who got here up with the concept of the collaboration, but it surely appears to be a perfect soft launch for Britney to reinvigorate her musical profession after staying silent in the ultimate years of her now-defunct conservatorship.

‘This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a big fan. They’ve recorded a remix of Tiny Dancer as a full duet — and it’s incredible,’ a music industry insider told the outlet.

The source added that Britney traveled to a studio situated in Beverly Hills with Elton to record the song out of the general public eye which was ‘overseen by uber-producer Andrew Watt.’

Watt has worked with several high-profile pop and rock acts — including Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Camilla Cabello and Pearl Jam — and he has collaborated multiple times with Elton, which suggests he can be a perfect pick for the 2 artists.

Based on the source, Britney and Elton’s latest single is already a success with record company executives.

‘They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It’s so good,’ they gushed. ‘They’re saying that is going to be the song of the summer.

‘Britney is officially back,’ they added. ‘She’s back to work, and he or she’s super excited.’

‘She truly is an icon, certainly one of the all-time great pop stars and he or she sounds amazing on this record. I like her dearly and am delighted with what we have created together,’ Elton said in a press release.

Britney, in her statement, told Elton it was an honor to be asked, saying: ‘I’m so grateful that I got the chance to work with you and your legendary mind.’

Elton and Britney first met in 2014 at an Oscars party and he or she later tweeted her love of Tiny Dancer, sowing the seeds for the newest collaboration.

HOLD ME CLOSER: WHAT DO THE CRITICS THINK?

The Telegraph

Rating:

Elton John and Britney Spears have just made one of the vital pointless records in pop history. Billed with great fanfare (by their publicists not less than) as a collaboration between “two of essentially the most iconic artists of all time”, Hold Me Closer is an ephemeral trifle that could be very much lower than the sum of its parts.

The Guardian

Rating:

On Hold Me Closer, Spears seems to hint at finding that for herself again in music. Even when this can be a one-off – and who can blame her if she doesn’t wish to return to pop full-time – that seems like enough.

Los Angeles Times

For John, a proudly admitted trend-watcher, “Hold Me Closer” registers as the newest sign of his pop savvy: Not only did he understand how much pent-up goodwill existed for Spears within the wake of #FreeBritney; he knew, in a summer defined by a house-music revival, that the method to frame her return was with funky bass and airy piano laid over a thumping four-on-the-floor groove.

Meanwhile, Britney is about to open up about her time under her conservatorship in her upcoming memoir – which is currently being delayed owing to a paper shortage.

The Baby One More Time singer signed a book deal earlier this 12 months in February and received a $15 million advance.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, the star expressed her excitement about having the prospect to have her version of the story shared.

‘Well I’m writing a book in the intervening time and it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it is also hard bringing up past events in my life,’ the Toxic hitmaker wrote.

‘I’ve never been capable of express openly!!! I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I used to be extremely young with those events took place,’ Britney concluded.

The Gimme More singer began to place pen to paper after her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, published her own memoir, Things I Should Have Said.

Britney grew upset in regards to the contents and claims included within the book. Based on Page Six, the singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, wrote a cease-and-desist letter shortly after the memoir became available to the general public.

‘Although Britney has not read and doesn’t intend to read your book, she and hundreds of thousands of her fans were shocked to see how you’ve exploited her for monetary gain,’ he had issued in his statement.

At the tip of the letter, the lawyer added, ‘She is going to not tolerate it, nor should she.’
