Casa Cruz tests patience on vow to open private dining room to the general public

Forgive our skepticism over Casa Cruz’s claim to being anything aside from a strictly private club.

Despite its insistence that its East 61st Street dining room is open to the general public, it has ignored our email requests for reservations since Oct 14. It first said three nights we asked for were “fully committed.”

It didn’t reply to two follow-up requests for a table at any time when one became available.

Vogue proclaimed Casa Cruz’s dining room “Latest York’s most glamorous latest restaurant.” But they only appear to take “investors” who pay $250,000-and-up to hitch.

They’re free to run the place as they select, in fact. But after we wrote last month that it was strictly private, their flack scolded us

“It’s NOT a non-public club. We shall be open to the general public for breakfast, lunch and dinner as of the twelfth of September,” the rep vowed.

We modified the story to reflect that. It may be time to alter it again.
