Draymond Green drops NSFW advice for aspiring NBA players

Published:

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green didn’t hold back when giving advice to aspiring skilled basketball players on make it to the NBA and stay.

During a workout with Toronto Raptors development coach Rico Hines, Green also took the time to share some basketball wisdom to the campers. The Warriors forward principally had one easy message for everybody in attendance: they need to discover their roles and be great at it.

“At the tip of the day, motherf**kers gotta play a task within the NBA. It’s 2 motherf**kers on the team that may do what the f**k they wanna do. And 13 other motherf**kers that gotta play a task,” Green said.

“So that you’re going to either master your role otherwise you’re going to get the f–k out. And it’s just that easy.”

Draymond Green is one of the best example of being a “star” in his role. Not everyone might be like Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson, but aspiring hoopers might be like Dray in the event that they put within the work and have the appropriate mindset.

The 32-year-old vet is by no means an awesome scorer. He isn’t even the most important or best power forward or center, but he has thrived with the Warriors after identifying and embracing his role. He’s the Dubs’ defensive anchor, and greater than that, he’s their vocal leader.

Green echoed Patrick Beverley’s sentiments during his workout with Rico Hines as well. The Utah Jazz guard noted that they need to learn to do the “little” things in the event that they need to make their NBA dreams a reality.

“Everybody here ain’t Paul George or [Pascal] Siakam, you understand?” Beverley said recently. “The teams aren’t gonna go to you, y’all not gonna have the ability to have the ball like that, so that you gotta do the little sh*t. If a motherf*cker has a ball in an iso and also you’re the cornerman just sitting there, you’re in the way in which. You could have to chop, you gotta do something, you gotta be lively. Defensively, everybody’s trotting back, but we ain’t running back. How good you wanna be?

“Find your role. Find your area of interest and your role. Find it. Find it. Everybody ain’t gonna have the ability to shoot hesi pulls. That’s just the fact of it. So find your area of interest and stick with it. Keep constructing off it, but find it first.”

Hopefully, those aspiring hoopers heed the recommendation of the 2. In spite of everything, they’ve done it and walked that path.
