Dame Carolyn McCall said the broadcaster repeatedly asked questions on rumours surrounding Phillip Schofield at This Morning, but was “repeatedly told there was nothing happening”.
Appearing before a Commons committee, ITV’s chief executive said the management didn’t consider it could have acted in another way, but when a review concluded otherwise, “we’ll listen, we’ll learn, and we’ll act”.
She was facing questions on ITV’s safeguarding policies and handling of complaints after Philip Schofield initially lied a couple of relationship with a younger member of staff.
