Published:

Ex-Fox NFL Sports Sunday and Good Day LA host Jillian Barberie is looking back on her past.

The 56-year-old star looked as if it would have all of it – fame, work, a loving husband – but then she hit several roadblocks.

Now sober with help from good friend Heather Locklear, she tells DailyMail.com how her depression and breast cancer battle led her into an addiction that turned her life the other way up.

‘I actually do not feel like I’ve had a whole lot of trauma in my life, which is hysterical because I all the time ask my girlfriends, “Have I have been through so much?”’ began the star who has also spoken on Addiction Talk, a web based talk show hosted by American Addiction Centers

‘They may take a look at me, and they’re going to seriously say to me, “Yes Jillian, you have been through so much.” But I feel every thing’s relative,’ she added.

Jillian – who also appeared on Melrose Place and in Sharknado- added that she is so amazed at where she is today. ‘Life is a crazy, crazy place I’ve had a lot fun,’ said Jillian.

But she had some help along the best way. Her close friend Heather Locklear from Melrose Place was there to get Barberie back on course.

‘Heather is one in all my very dear friends and she or he helped me so much through chemo, Jillian tells DailyMail.com.

‘She says I helped her through, you already know, her sobriety and, you already know, now we talk every single day. And I see her most days of the week.’

Locklear has been to rehab several times but has been much healthier previously few years.

Jillian added, ‘We’re very fortunate. We all the time say we’re the identical person. Now we have the identical humorousness, and we cover in the identical crazy business so we form of get it and she or he doesn’t take herself too seriously in any respect.

‘She’s one in all the funniest women I’ve ever met. And we’re raunchy,’ said Jillian.

And she or he also said that she may be very blessed to be sober at once.

‘It has been 14 months. I am unable to Imagine going through the things that I’ve undergone being drunk previously 12 months. I have been through enough. I mean, I feel that drinking, you already know, for me, will probably be the death of me, cancer won’t.’

With pal Kris Jenner in 2012: 'I really don't feel like I've had a lot of trauma in my life, which is hysterical because I always ask my girlfriends, “Have I've been through a lot?”' began the star who has also spoken on Addiction Talk , an online talk show hosted by American Addiction Centers

So far as her cancer, she says doesn’t look back.

‘I did have the double mastectomy, the chemo, the radiation,’ she shared.

‘I wasn’t one in all those women that checked out my body as this big sacred thing. I didn’t treat my body horribly, but I didn’t consider breast cancer. I just never really had mammograms. It just never occurred to me.

‘And I took I took my body as a right. I wish I might have done playboy. Playboy offered 4 times, and I turned them down each time and I wish I had done it. But, you already know, God had different plans for me.

‘I just wish I might have done it. For Prosperity. I had beautiful natural breasts and now I even have implants and I’m not as keen on them.

‘And folks said, “Oh my gosh, you already know, the steroids make you gain weight, and also you go bald.” But I’m not a vain person. My kids were primary. I told my oncologist to bring me to the brink of death and take me back again. I even have a 9 and an 11-year-old at home. Cancer rearview mirror.

‘I all the time tell people, you already know, for me that taking that sip of alcohol is much more dangerous than my cancer coming back.

‘For me, I’m much more afraid of taking a sip of Chardonnay than I’m, of hearing that my cancer comes back. And the explanation for that may be very easy. If cancer does come back, you’ve doctors, they’re the professionals, the experts that, you already know, surgical oncologists take it out of you. After which chemo oncologists let you know exactly how much chemo they have to put in your body. Once you’re drinking, you are the doctor, right?

‘So yeah, I do not ever need to return to that dark place. To think about every thing I achieved, while drinking by drinking really got bad.

‘After my diagnosis, I will be honest, it wasn’t due to cancer. It was due to other traumatic things that happened.

‘And, you already know, I got through all of it and I’m on hopefully the opposite side every single day, you already know, I have been a single mom for 10 years, doing it alone. And it has been hard at times, but it surely’s essentially the most fulfilling job I’ve ever had.

‘I used to be fortunate enough to work in Hollywood,’ shared Barberie.

‘We won 4 Emmys, it’s one in all those things that form of grew like a fungus. No person really paid attention to us. So, we actually got away with so much on that show.

‘It was really, as you’d say cheeky and fun, and we pushed boundaries. A lot in order that a whole lot of the celebrities would, you already know, bypass the large entertainment tonight’s and the large extras and all those shows and are available right to us like Brad Pitt and George Clooney just because they watched the show.

‘They were you already know, big fans of ours, and we were fans of theirs. Jen Aniston said to me, “Oh my god, we’re big fans of yours. We watch you within the morning.” And I used to be pondering, wow, I do know who she’s talking about.’

Jillian was hand chosen for Sharknado: ‘The producers picked me to be in it which was absolutely thrilling. They said look when you’re when you play a reporter, you will get more lines within the show or we will have you ever killed by a shark. So, I got here home that night, and I told the youngsters and before I may even get it on the market like you’ve to get my shark. So after all, I used to be attacked by a shark on the train.

‘The funniest thing is in in real life, I won’t go within the ocean. I’m absolutely afraid of great whites. I do not understand how surfers do it. You realize what lurks beneath like, what? Oh my god, I didn’t live my life to be fish food. I do not understand how they do it.’

And Skating with Celebrities in 2006 was very hard.

‘I feel it was 38 on the time, possibly probably in the most effective shape of my life because I actually didn’t work out and it forced us.

‘I mean, we might take Epsom salt baths and you would be forced to take for leave at simply because your muscles would ache, and also you your feet would swell or hurt. But I grew up in Canada on the ice and I loved every minute of it. We practiced. Gosh, I mean, I feel 11 hours every week.

That is how I met everyone within the Kardashian family and have become very close with them. And yeah, Bruce was a lot fun.

‘I remember one night he was skating very late as I skated late. After which sometimes I might just sleep on the couch on the ice show on the at the sector.

‘But one night, Bruce got here off the ice when Caitlyn was Bruce and he had a split open cheek, because he worn out and so they said, “Oh, my God, call the ambulance.”

‘And I said “No, I’m calling Kris.” Which afforded me the chance to fulfill Kris who’s an incredible woman and she or he hosted my baby shower. They were such a fun family to hang around with. And I have been blessed. I have been blessed.’

She also talks about being adopted.

‘My mother was born and raised in Ireland and my father born and raised in London. So, after I did 23 and me, it was 100% Spot on. Although I’m Lithuanian on my dad’s side.’

Her folks: It took work to find her family. 'I hired a detective to find my mom and dad, birth mom and dad that is, and I found that they had me very young, when they immigrated to Canada separately, didn't know each other, put me up for adoption,' she added
