Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray held an unplanned press conference this Thursday morning to handle something that is been bothering him.

Murray, the previous Oklahoma star, only recently signed an enormous contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals. Excellent news, right? Kind of.

Moments after contract details emerged, just a few notable NFL analysts and insiders were quick to indicate the Cardinals included an ‘independent study’ clause that requires Murray to review opponents for a minimum of 4 hours per week.

In other words, the Cardinals are requiring Murray to do his homework similar to how a parent unplugs the video games to get him/her to do some chores across the house or homework.

Does an NFL quarterback – or on this instance, a franchise quarterback – really must be told he needs to review his opponents? Apparently so.

Nonetheless, Murray took it upon himself to hold forth on the media and fans laughing over the clause during a press conference on Thursday.

“I’m flattered that y’all think that at my size (5-foot-10) I can go on the market and never prepare for the sport and never take it serious,” Murray said, via Yahoo.com.

“… After all, I watch film by myself, that is a given,” he added. “That does not even must be said.”

Well then.

Kyler Murray appears to be mad on the unsuitable people, though. He should really be blaming the Cardinals for putting that clause in his contract. It’s disrespectful and, frankly, embarrassing.

Murray little doubt has a recent chip on his shoulder heading into the 2022 season.
