‘A boyhood dream come true’: Lifelong Arsenal fan Oleksandr Zinchenko is happy at joining the Gunners after completing £32m transfer from Manchester City – as he insists he’s ‘ready for an additional challenge’

Oleksandr Zinchenko has described moving to Arsenal as a ‘boyhood dream come true’ after joining from Manchester City.
The versatile 25-year-old Ukraine international becomes Arsenal’s fifth summer signing after Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.
Zinchenko told the Arsenal website: ‘To begin with I would love to say it is a boyhood dream come true, because I used to be an enormous fan after I was a child.

‘Since Thierry Henry and young Cesc Fabregas was playing here, I used to be just having fun with watching those games, that Arsenal.
‘And clearly I began to love this club, so I’m so excited and I cannot wait to play for this amazing club.
‘I’m ready for an additional challenge. I’m not here simply to waste my time and the time of Arsenal since the club is at all times in front of everyone.

‘I’m here to attain big things and I hope we will win some titles, and I hope we’re going to fight for each title by which we’re going to be involved.
‘Even from the last season, I used to be watching The Arsenal’s games and I could smell it’s coming, ?
‘The team is growing up so quickly and I believe it is time. It is time to do our greatest and to attain something big.’

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta worked with Zinchenko during his time coaching under Pep Guardiola at City and said: ‘We’re so glad Alex has joined us.
‘He’s a player that I personally know very well and continued to follow him after my time at Manchester City.
‘Alex is a prime quality player who will give us options and flexibility.

‘It is not only concerning the positions he can play but as well, the flexibility he’ll give us in attack and defence.
‘Alex is an individual with great human qualities and character, and I’m delighted that everybody has made this huge effort to bring Alex to the club.’
Zinchenko made 128 appearances for City after joining them from Russian club FC Ufa in June 2016.
The Ukraine star will now slot straight in to Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the US
He won each the Premier League and League Cup 4 times during his stay on the Etihad Stadium, in addition to the FA Cup once.
Zinchenko has won 52 caps for Ukraine and may operate in defence or midfield.
Arsenal technical director Edu said: ‘I’m very happy to see how we’re working as a team here within the club.

‘We put a plan together early and Oleksandr Zinchenko was a principal concentrate on our list.

Zinchenko has already joined up with the Arsenal squad at their American pre-season training camp in Orlando.

In a parting interview on the City website, Zinchenko said he had spent an ‘unbelievable six years’ on the club.
He said: ‘I used to be not likely ready for this present day. It’s a tragic day but that is life, and you will have to hold on
‘It has been an unbelievable time, an unbelievable six years – I feel like I used to be a small a part of this amazing club.
‘I’m so grateful to everyone who has a done rather a lot to assist me and my family.
‘We achieved numerous titles and I need to say an enormous due to all of the fans and the Cityzens.’
