Asked by the Guardian the way it felt to be playing last winter, Jones said: “Good. It was emotional since it was the primary time my girls could watch me. They were too young after I went through all my problems [with injury and being trolled on social media] to actually understand what Daddy does for a living.
“They thought I kicked a ball within the park with my mates. So for them to be there with my wife, and to see me playing, made it an incredible occasion.”
Jones said he believes he continues to be adequate to play at the best level, adding: “I’m still only 30 and I’ve missed a whole lot of football. I’m hoping to recapture some form and luxuriate in playing football. After I was out injured it was a difficult time but I’ll never hand over.
“I feel like I’m still adequate and I’ve got so much to present. So I’m hopeful. I’m able to play again.”
