Marcus Rashford offers candid view on Man Utd injury woes amid Carabao Cup final concerns | Football | Sport

Marcus Rashford has insisted that the pain of the past has driven him to make up for lost time at Manchester United by returning to form in style over the course of this season. The England ace has been firing on all cylinders for the Red Devils over the previous couple of months and can be hoping to provide one other inspired performance on this weekend’s Carabao Cup final if he’s passed fit to face Newcastle at Wembley Stadium.

Rashford has enjoyed a comparatively injury-free campaign this time around after playing through the pain barrier in recent times as a consequence of a stress fracture in his shoulder, which he initially suffered back in 2020. The United marksman has since opened up on the toll it took on his mental and physical health in a candid interview with the Manchester Evening News but is decided to maintain his struggles firmly behind him as he looks to proceed his advantageous form for the Red Devils.

“To be honest, I do not think anyone – aside from the people on the club – they do not understand how long I used to be coping with those issues and so they probably won’t know until I say,” said Rashford.

“However it wasn’t only one season, it was a time frame where each day was tough and you could have to only sacrifice and I’ve at all times been one to attempt to be out on the pitch as much as I possibly can. And for me, that is where I get the happiness.

“If I’m out injured, I’m not completely satisfied. I’m coping with the pain and I’m not completely satisfied. So I might relatively attempt to take care of the pain so long as I can perform and still help the team, I’d at all times select to try this.

“At times, you could have to drag yourself out and for those who don’t, then you could have to get people around you to drag yourself out and that is what happened with the shoulder situation last season. It was the appropriate time to get it fixed, I recovered quite quickly from that.
