With the 2022-23 NBA season finally starting next week, the debates about who the most effective players within the league are one among the highest discussions amongst fans and the media. Every person has a distinct opinion about it for whatever reason.
But when there’s one thing that almost all of them can agree on, it’s that Giannis Antetokounmpo is arguably the most effective player within the league as of now. The Greek Freak has a formidable resume and still has loads of prime years left in him.
Nevertheless, that does not imply there aren’t players who’re near his level. One player who many consider might be viewed as a greater player than Giannis is none apart from the reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
Matt Barnes’ Controversial Top 5 Current NBA Players List
Ever since appearing on the recent episode of Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, Barnes has given his opinion on a plethora of things. He previously shared a starting five featuring the most effective teammates he had during his NBA profession.
Following that, Barnes has now revealed the five best players based on him heading into the 2022-23 NBA season. Surprisingly, Barnes snubbed Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic’s names from the list.
“Giannis, KD, Steph, LeBron, and Embiid.”
Barnes’ list shouldn’t be bad by any means. If anything, all of the players he mentioned are a few of the top players within the league. However the incontrovertible fact that he skipped the names of Luka and Jokic won’t sit well with NBA fans.
Many may understand not picking Doncic since he continues to be young and still has loads of time to showcase his talents, snubbing Jokic is arguably the thing that can put Barnes in the new seat. Jokic may not have won an NBA Championship, but he has won back-to-back NBA MVP awards. So, not picking him as one among the highest 5 players within the league is pretty controversial.
