Ben Jacobs spoke about Youri Tielemans’ position this summer on The Done Deal Show.
The Belgian was expected to go away Leicester City this summer, in response to reports from months ago, but here we’re on the primary day of the Premier League campaign and he’s still with the Foxes.
Jacobs believes that Tielemans’ transfer continues to be a possibility and that a last-minute offer from Newcastle United is probably going.
In an interesting statement, Jacobs claims that Arsenal genuinely have control over the situation and can get the player in the event that they make a bid for him.
“Tielemans they accept that if a good offer is available in they are going to sell him due to player’s contract situation and so they know that he ideally doesn’t need to sign a recent deal.”
“Tielemans wants his future resolved ASAP, still no bids in the mean time, but a number of clubs have tried to work out the financials. Arsenal haven’t moved yet, but it surely’s still very possible,” Jacobs said.
“There’s no urgency for these clubs to maneuver because until one bids the opposite interested clubs don’t have to contemplate it. It’s in Arsenal’s control, if Arsenal bid and agree a fee Tielemans will join Arsenal no matter what some other club do.
“If Arsenal don’t bid it’s more of an open race and that’s where Manchester United could are available as a De Jong backup or perhaps a late bid from Newcastle may very well be something we see.”
