NFL Rebels Update: Week 1

OXFORD, Miss. – Here at OleMissSports.com, we’re proud to update Rebel fans on the status of our former players who lace up their cleats on Sundays within the NFL. The Ole Miss football program continues to shine within the skilled league with 29 former Rebels on NFL rosters (practice squads included), including star wideouts A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and Elijah Moore.
 
Overall, 20 of them played within the opening week of the 2022 regular season. Here’s a rundown of how each NFL Rebel performed:
 
#34 Brandon Bolden | RB | Las Vegas Raiders
Accomplished a deep-left 18-yard pass to lead to a touchdown for the Raiders and tallied a complete of 21 receiving yards and 7 rushing yards.
 
#11 A.J. Brown | WR | Philadelphia Eagles
Caught 10 passes for 155 yards in his Eagle debut. Brown recorded the longest play of the sport, hauling in a deep ball for a gain of 54 yards.

#24 Snoop Conner | RB | Jacksonville Jaguars
Was listed as inactive within the Week 1 matchup with Washington.
 
#17 Evan Engram | TE | Jacksonville Jaguars
Hauled in 4 passes for 28 yards.
 
#38 Myles Hartsfield | DB | Carolina Panthers
Broke up one pass and accomplished two tackles against the Browns.
 
#98 Marquis Haynes | DE | Carolina Panthers
Tallied three total tackles, including one for a lack of two yards against Cleveland. 
 
#21 Mike Hilton | CB | Cincinnati Bengals
Led the Bengals in tackles with eight solo tackles and one quarterback hit.
 
#94 Benito Jones | DT | Detroit Lions
Appeared on 16 defensive snaps.
 
#97 D.J. Jones | DT | Denver Broncos
Began at defensive tackle in his Broncos debut, tallying 4 total tackles within the loss.
 
#31 Jaylon Jones | CB | Chicago Bears
Competed in 43 defensive snaps. 
 
#88 Dawson Knox | TE | Buffalo Bills
Caught one pass for five yards within the 31-10 Thursday night win to the Rams.
 
#33 Deane Leonard | CB | Los Angeles Chargers
Appeared on 15 snaps on special teams. 
 
#75 Greg Little | OT | Miami Dolphins
Lined up 45 out of 60 offensive snaps to steer the Dolphins to a 20-7 victory over the Patriots.
 
#14 D.K. Metcalf | WR | Seattle Seahawks
Caught all seven targets for a complete of 36 yards within the Seahawks’ 17-16 win over the Broncos on Monday Night Football.
 
#33 A.J. Moore | S | Tennessee Titans
Appeared on special teams on five snaps within the Titans’ 21-20 loss to the Giants.
 
#8 Elijah Moore | WR | Latest York Jets
Hauled in 5 passes for 49 yards with a deep left completion for twenty-four yards against the Ravens.
 
#70 Royce Newman | OL | Green Bay Packers
Began at right tackle, playing all 61 snaps on offense in Green Bay’s 23-7 loss to Minnesota.
 
#93 Mark Robinson | LB | Pittsburgh Steelers
Was listed as inactive within the Week 1 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.
 
#78 Laremy Tunsil | OT | Houston Texans 
Began and played all 70 offensive snaps with zero penalties for the tie against the Colts.
 
#54 Sam Williams | DE | Dallas Cowboys
Logged six snaps on defense and 11 on special teams within the Cowboys’ 19-3 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football.
