Not the beginning you would like for Seattle
Geno Smith’s first pass attempt of the day is an interception, as he tried to suit the ball in late to Tyler Lockett near the sideline, just for Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn to sink underneath it.
Smith has thrown interceptions in three consecutive games and 4 of 5 after totaling just three interceptions over the primary eight games of the season.

Advantage Broncos, for now
Chiefs-Broncos is a matchup between the NFL’s best third-down offense (Kansas City) and best third-down defense (Denver).
To date, advantage Denver, though because of their terrible offense, the Broncos are 2-5 this season once they trail by not less than six points.

Harrison Butker nails the 45-yard field goal to offer the Chiefs a 6-0 lead with 2:53 left in the primary quarter. Chiefs not having much trouble moving the ball, but they’re 0-for-2 on third down.

Giants fans needs to be rooting for the Panthers this afternoon. If the Seahawks beat Carolina, the Giants will fall out of the playoff field because Washington currently holds the tiebreaker over the Giants (obviously subject to vary next week).

Just how good are the Vikings?
The Lions’ 34-23 victory over the Vikings gives Detroit the perfect point differential within the NFC North (2).
The Vikings (-1) are the one 10-3 team ever to have a negative point differential, per Stathead. The subsequent-worst 10-3 team by point differential is the 2004 Falcons (15).

Could the Lions be a playoff contender?
The Lions, with a 34-23 victory over the Vikings, improve to 6-7 and have now won five of their past six games.
They next face the slumping Jets (7-6) within the Meadowlands, after which finish the season on the Panthers, vs. the Bears and on the Packers. Couple all of that with a loss today by the Giants (7-5-1) and … is it time to begin talking about Detroit as a playoff contender?
