The money boost will help older Britons make ends meet as energy bills are set to rise again going into the colder months. The one-off payment will likely be arriving in pensioners’ bank accounts this winter as a part of the Winter Fuel Payment.
Most payments will likely be issued mechanically, in November and December, with recipients to get a letter to advise how much they may receive.
The tax-free payment will vary between £150 and £300 depending on an individual’s situation.
Those that don’t get a letter or the cash paid into their account by January 13, 2023, can contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.
To be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment, an individual should have been born on or before September 25, 1956.
