Amid strong interest from Crystal Palace, Flynn Downes is already within the second phase of his West Ham medical, in keeping with Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports.

In line with talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the south Londoners believed that they had a deal in place for the 23-year-old, however the east Londoners have suddenly taken over their quest.

Since Downes and his family are all avid West Ham supporters, it comes as no surprise to us that he selected to play for his hometown team in Europe.

Sheth claims that because the England Under-20 international moves on to the following round of his physical with the Irons, his transfer to the London Stadium is now “accelerating.”

Downes attracted interest from Wolves and Leeds, who saw him as a possible Kalvin Phillips substitute at Elland Road.

Crystal Palace’s interest within the playmaker goes back to the playmaker’s time at Ipswich, where he submitted a transfer request to force a move to Selhurst Park in response to several offers from the Eagles.

As he moves from the Championship to the Premier League, he now appears able to reunite together with his childhood team.

Crystal Palace fans needn’t worry; it seems that Dougie Freedman has already chosen his next plan of action.

It has been reported that Morgan Gibbs-White, who excelled within the Championship last season while on loan at Sheffield United, will likely be signed by Crystal Palace from Wolves.
