Summer holiday bookings are surging: Sales of 2023 breaks are running almost 1 / 4 ahead of pre-pandemic

Holiday firms are reporting a leap within the variety of sun-starved Britons hatching plans for next 12 months.

Sales of summer 2023 breaks are running almost 1 / 4 ahead of pre-pandemic comparisons, in keeping with Julia Lo BueSaid, chief executive of Britain’s largest independent group of travel agents Advantage Travel.

‘There is a large market who’ve savings, have not travelled for some years, and are keen to,’ she said.

Lo Bue-Said added that almost a 3rd of those that took an annual holiday before the pandemic haven’t travelled since, and are keen to achieve this.

All-inclusive packages are rising in popularity amongst those whose budgets are strained by rising energy and food bills.

Zoe Harris, chief customer officer for holiday retailer On The Beach, said there was a 30 per cent rise in bookings for all-inclusive trips.

Turkey is gaining popularity because the pound strengthens against the lira. It’s more likely to overtake Spain as the highest destination next 12 months.
