When chatting with Express.co.uk, author David Farr explained that a significant difference between the show and the novel is that the previous comes more from a female perspective.
“It became really clear to me after I began to adapt it that there is a big shift needed for a contemporary audience”, Farr said.
“The story is essentially about women getting pregnant and yet, someway, it is so male as a book.
“So a giant shift across from the male to the feminine began and, me being the author is a bit weird in fact, so female writers got here on board.”
