Tom Hanks says he’s appeared in some movies he ‘hates’

Published:

Despite being one in every of the most important movie stars on this planet, Tom Hanks isn’t keen on all of his onscreen projects.

The 2-time Oscar winner, 66, said that while he had been an element of some successful movies, a few of them just simply didn’t end up the way in which he had hoped.

In an interview with The Latest Yorker, Hanks was asked why he gets offended when he hears people say they “hate” a selected film.

“OK, let’s admit this: All of us have seen movies that we hate,” he told the publication. “I actually have been in some movies that I hate. You could have seen a few of my movies and also you hate them.”

Hanks briefly touched on the subject of hating movies in his debut novel “The Making of One other Major Motion Picture Masterpiece” released last month.

The actor explained the method behind filmmaking, saying there are five stages actors undergo before the film involves fruition.

Hanks notes that the stages include landing the role, watching the film, hearing feedback and reading reviews, and later tracking the film’s numbers on the box office.

He specifically used the film “It’s a Wonderful Life” for instance, in addition to his 1996 film “That Thing You Do!” which he wrote and directed.

He said the 2 movies weren’t successful on the time of their respective releases, but later earned the status of “cult classics.”

Despite that, Hanks refused to disclose which of his movies he “hates.”

Speaking in Sept. 2022, the actor said he thinks only 4 of his movies are “pretty good.”

“Nobody knows how a movie is made — though everyone thinks they do,” he told the outlet.

“I’ve made a ton of films, and 4 of them are pretty good, I feel, and I’m still amazed at how movies come together. From a flicker of an idea to the flickering image onscreen, the entire process is a miracle.”

Hanks first emerged on the scene within the Nineteen Eighties, when he landed roles in “Splash!,” “The ‘Burbs,” and “Big” – for which he received an Oscar nomination.

But his life modified without end after he won his first Academy Award in 1994 for “Philadelphia.” He took home one other Oscar the next 12 months for his role in “Forrest Gump.”

He was nominated a further 3 times in later years.

The actor’s other notable credits include two “Toy Story” movies, “You’ve Got Mail,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Green Mile,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Forged Away,” “Road To Perdition,” and “Elvis.”
