But skateboarder Tony Hawk looked like an unusual suburban dad on a piece trip as he killed time outside his Sydney hotel on Thursday.

The daddy of 4, 54, was seen scrolling through his phone while leaning against a wall as he waited for a friend to exit the lobby.

That night, Tony was the keynote speaker on the Knowledge 2022 festival hosted by U.S. software company ServiceNow at ICC Sydney.

He was interviewed on stage by Channel Nine presenter Sylvia Jeffreys, who later said it was ‘an actual buzz’ to talk to the sports legend.

The Today Extra host, 36, posted a photograph of the pair on Instagram, and wrote: ‘After sharing a stage with skateboarding icon @tonyhawk this afternoon I can confirm he’s even cooler than you’re thinking that. A deadset legend.

‘Thanks, Tony, for an awesome conversation. It was an actual buzz.’

Tony responded within the comments: ‘Thanks for making it really easy!’

After the conference, he went out for dinner with friends on the Italian restaurant Pellegrino 2000 in Surry Hills.

The philanthropist was invited to Knowledge 2022 to debate ‘the facility of reinvention and provoking positive change on the earth’. 

Tony, from San Diego, is taken into account a pioneer of recent vertical skateboarding, and is best known for being the primary person to land a 900 trick.

He also made thousands and thousands by licensing his name to the favored Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series of videogames published by Activision.

Tony is not any stranger to Australian shores, as he has previously made appearances at several skateboarding competitions Down Under.

Sydney’s Bondi Beach was also a playable level in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2, released for PS2, GameCube and Xbox in 2004.
