West Ham in advanced talks to sign relegated winger

Published:

Moyes has been eyeing possible candidates to help Michail Antonio in his front yard just about all summer, his sights now set on an excellent relegated winger.

Ivory Coast International, Maxwel Cornet, who is needed by various other EPL clubs, including but not limited to Newcastle and Everton, is the person in query.

The player netted nine impressive goals from 26 appearances for Burnley last season, which in itself is an almost unprecedented feat considering his team was in a relegation battle a lot of the season.

After several reports and confirmation linking the 25-year-old to West Ham, Sky Sports now reports that the Hammers are within the latter stages of their negotiations with Burnley for the versatile winger.

The discharge clause (17.5M kilos) for Cornet isn’t a small sum, but for West Ham, it’s almost nothing in the event that they’ll get someone of Cornet’s calibre on their side in return.

His prowess on the front, in midfield, and even defense is not going to just give Moyes Antonio’s help but something higher, and that is strictly what the Hammers must successfully fend off competition in domestic and European competitions.

It’s almost improbable that Maxwell (considering his top class and form) will likely be satisfied staying with a second-tier side, so the London side has a likelihood to tug him in.

Furthermore, the allure of playing in a European Cup might just be too great for other competitors to match, so Moyes’s side might be said to have one hand on the winger already.
