Winter Fuel Payment scheme has begun to be paid – when pensioners can expect as much as £600 | Personal Finance | Finance


Some 11.6 million pensioners will receive as much as £600 to assist pay their energy bills this winter in the shape of a £300 Winter Fuel Payment and a further £300 cost of living support payment.

The payments can be made to eligible state pensioners in England, Scotland and Wales and although some people have received them already, others can be sent out through the remainder of November, December and early January.

Not everyone will receive £600 as it should rely upon certain eligibility criteria – some people may only receive £250.

On the Government website, it states: “If you happen to were born before 26 September 1956 you can get between £250 and £600 to aid you pay your heating bills. That is referred to as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.”
