Yankees-Astros Game 4 Is Delayed by Rain: Live Updates

Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday didn’t start as scheduled at 7:07 p.m. Eastern time due to rain, but Major League Baseball announced at 7:29 that it was targeting an 8:30 start for the sport.

“We’re working with the clubs to be certain that their pitchers have an acceptable probability to warm as much as hit that concentrate on,” it said in probably the most recent statement.

After the labor dispute between M.L.B. and the players’ union over the winter delayed the beginning of the season, M.L.B. tweaked the postseason. In consequence, a few of the traditional travel days when a series switches venues are lost. So after a travel day on Friday in between Game 2 in Houston on Thursday and Game 3 within the Bronx on Saturday, the teams were scheduled to play five games in five days if needed. The series could return to Houston on Tuesday for Game 6 if the Yankees can win two games.

The Yankees already had two games of their previous round, a best-of-five A.L. division series against the Cleveland Guardians, postponed by rain. Last Monday, the Yankees and the Guardians were speculated to play the decisive final game of the series.

But after telling fans the sport’s start could be delayed after which watching the weather patterns change, M.L.B. didn’t update fans until two and a half hours after the unique start time, telling them the sport had been postponed. This time, M.L.B. is being more transparent.
